Sympathy Cards..

In my card swap group this month we are doing sympathy cards..It is so hard to make a sympathy card. My style is often cute and funky and those just aren't words I would use to describe a sympathy card so this month really stretched my creativity.
Sadly this is the best I could come up with. Today was a good day, my throat is sore again and I am just praying it is not strep...again. Candi and Byron and Cassie all have strep...sorry, our family just likes to share..

1st Tooth

Well the picture says it all..we finally understand why Elle has been so fussy. She cut her first tooth. I was trying to get something out of her mouth and felt something REALLY sharp..yep a tooth. This should make for some interesting feedings! You would think after 3 kids I would see all the signs but of course I missed them. I did give her some Motrin tonight..a little late I know but hopefully she can get some rest. Riley and Brooke didn't cut teeth until they were 10 months so I just wasn't even thinking about it..poor girl..

More Easter Weekend

Well I put together the pictures from the dinosaur park. We went on Monday and it was so nice. My phone accidently fell in the Ogden River and after quite the debate I decided to go in after it, no sooner did I retrive it (with huge fish and what we think was a muskrat swimming around it) did I hear a splash and see Kates shoes floating. Asia retrived it and amazingly I tried to turn on my phone today and it works...so funny. Now I have to try and sanatize it so it dosen't reek like the river.

Today has been one of those days, since last night I have been weepy all day. I don't know if it is finding out that a 12 year old boy from our old (S. Ogden) ward passed away in his sleep on Sunday or something else. I have just been thinking about how fragile life is. I hope I show my kids enough how much I love them. I need to do better with letting them know they are the reason I wake up in the morning...

We had a good Easter Weekend. Ken and Kathryn were kind enough to come up on Friday, spend the night and work all day Saturday on our house. Ken secured and otherwise rebuilt our sad excuse for a deck. It is so nice to be able to walk on it without the fear of plummeting to your death. The kids love it and we have already bbq'd on it. Kathryn and I met Kelly and kids at the WestPoint Easter Egg hunt on saturday morning. We pulled up right as the kids were springing to the field in search off eggs so we missed it. Luckily 2 nice girls loaded my kids up with treats and after playing in the park with their cousins the disappointment was soon forgotten. Fred and Sarah came up later Saturday afternoon and helped lay bark in front of the house. I made an early Easter dinner and it was nice to spend some time visiting with everyone. My kids were all sick again, fevers, cough, runny noses but we were in charge of sharing time so we dragged all the kids to church. Aside from the boogery noses they all looked very cute in their Easter garb. Mom and Dad had dinner and an Easter Egg hunt at their house and it was so nice. The weather was warm and it actually felt like Spring. It is so nice to be able to spend some time outside. Tom has been working so hard to get the house ready to sell and we actually listed it on Thursday. We have already had a few people come thru it so hopefully it will sell fast...we are praying. I am going to be so sad to leave our house but I am getting more and more excited about Denver. Tom's work is so excited to get him out there, we even found out they already have an office set aside for him and it has a view of the mountains!!!! This is big news, seeing as he has been working from what is the equivelent of a guard shack on a dark and cold dock for the past year. I am also so excited to get him on a regular schedule and have help with bedtime. Anyways I will post more later, I better go to bed. I stay up way to late with Tom gone, I guess that is one of the things that will change once he is 9-5.

Let the Games Begin....

Well our house is slowly becoming more and more like a three ring circus. Between Toms school, selling the house, moving to Denver, and 3 sick kids, our house is in a constant state of insanity. I am trying to keep things in check and not get too stressed out. I figure it all will work out somehow whether I stress about it or not. We are meeting with a Realtor tomorrow to get the house listed. So I have been trying tonight to get the house ready but with 3 sick kids it has been interesting. Riley was home from school today...AGAIN.....with strep throat. I seriously feel like people think we are hypochondriacs. Brooke has already woken up twice in the past 2 hours she has been in bed, so this could make for an interesting night. This picture is what happens when I leave Tom in charge of the babies while he is on the phone. Luckily no one was hurt. I have to remind myself to let my kids be kids and not get so stressed out..this was one of those times!!

Man Cold

I think all women can relate to this right...

Rub a dub dub...

Well after 2 Dr's appointments and a week of thinking I was going insane I finally found out that I was sick, in fact that I had strep. Mind you this is after I spent the day out and about at the movies and etc. and then went to church the next day and taught a room full of 5 year olds. And we all wonder how we keep getting sick....Sorry. Needless to say our with all the runny noses and sore throats there have been a lot of baths and showers in our house. Elle has been on a serious antibiotic and in return has gotten some serious diaper rash. We have been giving her baths and showers at least twice a day to help keep it clean. She loves the bath and has actually recently fell in love with the shower. She just completely relaxes. It is so cute, the moment she gets in the shower she rests her head on your shoulder. Last week she almost fell asleep in the shower and when I did finally pull her out she fell asleep wrapped in a towel. It was so funny but of course I didn't take any pictures...duh. I have also been wondering if any other moms use the bath for pure entertainment purposes. Often I will just throw Riley and Brooke in the bath and let them play for 30+ minutes. Sadly by the time I pull them out they look like human raisons but I have been able to get some things done and they ahve been entertained! Anyways I hope you enjoy the pictures and as for the ones of Tom and Elle in the shower; for all you know he is wearing a bathing suit...hehehe.

These are a few of my favorite things....

I noticed that my last couple of post have been quite the downers. Needless to say in the name of "count your many blessings". I give you a few of my favorite things...these are not in any particular order....

*Hot baths, nothing quite soothes MY soul quite like a long, scalding hot bath... (I try to make this a nightly ritual..)

*Crisp, clean sheets...couple this with the aforementioned and I am in heaven...

*Good Movies...old, new, scary, funny, I don't care as long as it's good...(We just saw "Horton Hears a Who" yesterday and we give it 2 thumbs up!!)

*Brand new babies, I think I am cursed to be eternally baby hungry there is nothing quite like a new baby (Mindy is already making me jealous with baby Peyton)...

*Oreo Cookies and Cold Milk, need I say more....really...

*Acqua Di Gio, preferably on Tom but I don't discriminate :)

*Americas Funniest Home Videos, I'm old school I know but nothing is better than a good belly laugh at someone else's misfortune. (I still laugh out load when I think about the lady on the motorbike, giving the kiss of death....Candi? Kelly? you know what I'm talking about!)

*Thunderstorms, possibly my favorite kind of weather, especially when cuddled up with someone I really like....

*Sleeping with my babies in my bed, call me crazy but I love having them in bed with me, so does Tom and I really do miss it when I finally get them sleeping in their own beds. Sure they get sweaty and wiggly but there is nothing quite like a sweet baby to cuddle with, especially when Tom doesn't get home until 2 or 3am.

*Girlfriends: I feel so blessed to have so many close girlfriends. I love the long phone conversations, the play dates, the girls nights out and the (of recent) IM conversations. You all know who you are and I don't know what I would do without you all.....

*Being Married: Sure there are the fights the annoying habits and the full release of any reservations when it comes to bodily noises but who cares....being married rocks. I get to have my best friend with me all the time, and he "gets" me completely. I wouldn't trade it for anything..

*My Kids: along the same lines of the previous, sure you get stretch marks, and no sleep, rare showers and even less time alone there is nothing like being "the one" they want when they are scared or hurt, or just sad...love it!

*Blogging: yep I love it, it's awesome to stay in touch with everyone, and for the first time in a long time I am finally keeping some sort of a journal.

*Family: As I'm sure most of you know family is the end all with me...it all begins and ends with family. It is by far my most treasured possession. This includes my little family and all of my extended family. When I married Tom is wasn't "his" family and "my" family it was our family and I feel blessed to have in laws that mean so much to me. On my side it has been so nice to live so close to everyone and that is by far the hardest thing about leaving to Denver.

Well hopefully that was a more upbeat post, I now tag the following to list their favorite things:

Jenny

Jen (yes, you Jennifer Gilbert!)

Mindy

Amy Briscoe

Amy Lillywhite

Suz

Emma

Just another day in Paradise?

We ended up taking Elle to the doc's yesterday. Sure enough she has double ear infections. Poor girl. The Dr put her on the strongest med he could. The possible side affects include severe diaper rash, a red poops. This should be fun...
Well I think the reality of moving is finally hitting Tom and I. I feel like the past year was such an emotional roller coaster, Tom got a new job, we had a baby, we bought our first house. Just as things were settling down, everything gets turned upside down again. I know it is what we are suppose to be doing but I guess I just am afraid to walk into the darkness. I want to see the light and maybe I'm just scared to take that first step. It all seems so scary and stressful. The crying has started for some reason it always happens when I'm in my car driving. Probably because it's the only time I can really sit and think by myself. I am going to miss everyone so much. I keep teasing Tom that it is like we are going away to college, since we never really went away when we were young. I just have to remember, like Becky was telling me today it's all about faith. I have to have faith that it will all work out, just like President Hinckley always said. My ears are still killing me so after nearly a week of putting up with it I finally went to the Dr. and just my luck he can't find anything wrong with me...are you kidding. I wanted to die...what a waste of $20. Even worse the Dr. came in reeking of Doritos,so sick when you haven't been eating them. I half expected him to have orange fingers. This is why I never go to the Dr.'s for myself, they usually just say sorry nothing we can do...so I'm doped up on Advil and Sudafed. Ken, Kathryn and Marianne came and visited us today on the way to take Marianne to the airport. Brookie was so excited to see them. After they left she kept saying, "Next time can I go home with Grandma?" She loves spending time with them so much. In fact when they are with her they don't want to come home. Makes me feel great, huh?
Asia was a sweetheart and watched Riley and Brooke while I went to my Dr.'s appointment and even made dinner for us. It was nice to not have to think about it. Tomorrow Tom and I are going to work on the yard. We have so much to do, baby steps.... Well I'm gonna climb back in bed and finish watching "Moonstruck", funny it brings back memories of my childhood. I remember watching it when I was little, ahh the memories, now if only Tom was home it would be perfect...

My ear is killing me!!!

I think I have been blessed to get an ear infection. It has been killing me on and off for 3 days now. I keep hoping that it is going to go away. But no such luck. i guess the idea of dragging three kids to a Dr's office is just not that appealing. I'm giving it another 24 hours with some Advil and then I will try and figure something out. Today was a good day. I think the reality of us moving is finally setting in and the stress is slowing moving in. We have so many loose ends to tie up before we move. It will all work out it always does. Anyways I am going to pop some medicine and try to fall asleep. Elle has a cold too so she didn't sleep to well last night. The daylight savings time is also killing me, I can't seem to get used to it and it is throwing off Elle's bedtime. Sorry about the whiny post...today really wasn't that bad.

3 year old with golf club + 6 year old Sheriff = ouch!

Today was a good day. I finally made it back to the gym after a long hiatus. It was good to finally get my butt moving again and it gave me a chance to visit with Candi so that is always good for the soul. Candi took Brooke home with her today and so after Riley got home from school we went to pick her up. Well we were hanging out for awhile when the kids went outside. No longer than 10 minutes pass when Riley comes in holding his head and crying. At first I though he had fallen off the trampoline. In between sobs it became clear that he had actually been hit in the head by Eriks golf club and had a huge goose egg with a little cut on it. Luckily it hit the side of his head and Riley is in need of a serious hair cut so it helped cushion the hit. I felt so bad. Riley was injured while trying to be the sheriff. He was worried that Erik was holding the golf club too high so he went in to tell him and in the process managed to get whacked. Poor Erik was like, what happened? I never cease to be amazed by kids’ resilience. Within an hour or so Riley was doing somersaults and jumping around. I can only imagine if I got hit in the golf club what I would be like. It would most likely involve a bed, a icepack, some ibuprofen, and a pint of ben and jerrys.

Psstt.....we're moving

After over a month of not knowing we are officially moving to Denver. Tom's job is tranferring him there for a H.R. position. This is such a blessing for Tom and I as he is just finishing up his degree in HR. We don't know all the details (when we will be moving) but we are so excited. I don't think the reality of leaving all of our families and friends has set in yet and the tears I'm sure will come. But we are so excited to have a normal shift (9-5pm) for Tom. We will keep you updated as we find out more. Also we have to sell our cute house so if you know anyone who wants a cute remodeled house within walkind distance to Front Runner, let us know. We love you all...

Our Weekend...

This has been a whirlwind of a weekend. It started with Marianne and Becky coming into town Friday afternoon. It was soooooo nice to see Becky, (we haven't seen each other since Nov.) Candi watched the kids for me and we all went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner. It was so nice to get away and reconnect with Becky. It's funny because after that long it was like we never missed a beat. I guess that just how it is with true friends.
The next morning we drove to Laketown for Ruths funeral. It was beautiful and so nice to see everyone and hear all the fun stories and memories of Ruth's life. She was such a amazing girl and such a blessing to our family. I am so glad my kids were able to get to know here and I am sad that we won't have her around anymore. I love that she was able to teach them about people with disablites and "normalize" it. Now when Riley and Brooke see someone with downsyndrome they aren't scared they just say "hey, they are like Ruth." I think that was such a blessing and I just hope they remember her.
We then made the trip back to Honeyville for the burial. I drove Logan Canyon for the first time and was so nervous. It didn't help that it was a little rainy and snowy but I did it and was so proud. I felt bad for Frank and Amy because we were following them and the probably thought I was driving like a grandma...sorry.
At the cemetery we pulled up and Riley said "I know what we are doing here, we are going to plant Ruth." I laughed so hard, and I guess it's kind of true. We put them in the ground and they will be raised again into something beautiful and new. I think this is especially true for Ruth since she will be resurected with a perfect body. I guess it bring new meaning to the phrase "Bloom were your planted." After the burial we all went to Ted and Jens. It was so nice to just let the kids play after a long day and visit. We then came home and crashed. Church was good today and since Becky was here Tom went to priesthood. He was so glad to go and I am glad to have a husband who actually wants to go to priesthood. We are in charge of sharing time on Easter so I attempted to start to plan it with our class but with 5 year olds this should be interesting. Tonight we went to dinner at Candi and Kelly's it was so nice to not have to cook. Gotta love that. Anyways Suz is coming to visit me tomorrow since her boys are out of school so I am going to let Riley stay home, I know horrible mom seeing as he had missed so much time being sick but I think we deserve a fun day.

P.S. This picture was taken thursday. Elle has found a new true love Fruit Cheerios...I love them too because they keep her occupied...

Happy Early St. Patty's Day

Is it only Thursday?

This has been one of those long weeks, it started out fast but has slowed to a seemingly snail pace. Elle has started to try and crawl/scoot. She does the caterpillar were she sticks her butt in the air and then inches forward. She has mastered the scoot backwards and has gotten stuck under the couch and my bed several times. Tom has been working his tail off and for the past 3 nights has gotten home after 3am. It is so yucky for him, but he doesn’t complain..I can't say the same about myself. Riley is home today, he went to school in the morning but at 11:00 the school called to say that Riley was in the office with a sick tummy. Sadly he didn't make it to the bathroom on time. Luckily no one in his class new except his teacher but he was devastated. He was crying and told me, "I thought this was going to be a fun day but this was the worst day ever." It was so cute and sad. I don't know what the problem was because after a shower and a bath he seems to be fine. We almost made 2 weeks in a row without missing a day..oh well. Brooke has been her regular goofy self, though today she has decided to have another emotional day. She started crying because we looked at her while she was eating. I guess I have had days like that too. Ruth’s funeral is on Saturday and I have been trying to talk to the kids about it. We talked about how she was in heaven and would have a perfect body and would get to be a mom and have a husband. Well Brooke is now convinced that Ruth is going to marry Grandpa; I don't know were she got that idea from. Riley asked about the resurrection and I told him that Ruth would be then he asked about Easter and I told him that we celebrate it because that is when Christ was resurrected. He asked if Ruth was going to be resurrected on Easter, and now Brooke is convinced of this too. It is so neat to see their little minds work and even though they don't quite get it all the way they believe it. Well I better finish my chores; Becky and Marianne are staying with us tomorrow so I am so excited and need to get my floors mopped. Yeah for visitors...especially Becky who I haven't seen in forever!!!

I love my hubby!!!

Today was one of those days that I realized what a good husband Tom is. We got our cell phone bill and it was over $600.00!!! Now we all know I like talking a lot but even I was suprised and sickened by that amount. Well my sweet husband didn't even freak out. He was so patient and just said "it's ok, we will figure it out.." He even said he would call and talk to them. I just think of how I would have reacted and it would not have been so christlike. I probably would have freaked out in true "Briscoe" fashion. I ended up calling AT&T and working it out, (they waived all the overage charges, over $450, and even credited us an additional 2000 rollover minutes). The problem was that we switched plans and had 8500 roll over minutes that we were told (untruthfully) would continue on our new plan. Well only 550 of those actually came over and so we went over our minutes. Luckily I was able to get it all worked out and didn't even lose my temper with the customer service reps. I guess I learned that kindness goes a lot further than anger... So it's official..I love my husband. Hopefully I can be more like him...and he won't pick up anymore of my bad traits.
P.S. Unless you are on at&t you will probably be getting a lot less phone calls and a lot more emails...

Our crazy daughter...

This morning while I was getting ready for church Tom was feeding the kids breakfast, (what a good hubby, he also cleaned out my garage this weekend so we can park in it..yeah!!!), and Brookie started singing and running around. She is such a funny girl. Tom just had to document her little high pitched voice. She still makes me laugh every day! It's kind of long but she just is too cute!

Yes...I am your mother...

Elle is in full fledge stranger danger mode. If anyone outside of our immediate famiy, (i.e. Tom, Dani, Riley, and Brooke) even attempt to hold her she will respond with a screaming, writhing fit. I have to admit that in some evil way I like that she just wants me, but then I realize that means, she just wants ME. Not so fun! Well today I got Elle down for a nap and was going to run to the store with Brookie while Tom did homework and watch Elle. Well Tom's phone rang and woke Elle up. Now let me just say that today was not a pretty day for the Lillywhite househould, namely me. I had my hair pulled back and had a baseball cap on and no makeup (and yes I was going to the store like that, I call it my mom uniform!). Well I picked Elle up and tried to console her but she just kept screaming louder and louder, and acting like she didn't want me to hold her. I finally realized she was freaked out by the hat and took it off. By this point she was in a melt down and it took another 3 minutes to get her to realize that yes..in fact I was her mom. Once she realized it was me she got all cuddly, and giggly and I just had to laugh. What a funny little girl. We talked to Kathryn today and Ruth is still in the hospital. I'll keep everyone updated. Also I just realized that I haven't put the other Lillywhite family news. Fred is getting married to a sweet girl named Sarah on May 30th in the SLC temple. She is very sweet and we are so excited for them. Congrats...
